I recently moved back in with my mom. Yikes. I am living in what used to be my little brother's room. It was in a horrid state. For one, it had been painted (poorly at that) dark blue at one point, which with the brown trim and red carpet made the little room seem even tinier. Also, when my bro was in highschool he thought blacklights were awesome, and splattered the textured ceiling with blacklight paint, a bunch of which was peeling/hanging off. I could not stand to live in that state any longer, so I loaded up on kilz, paint and other supplies and worked all weekend on making myself a lighter, brighter, perhaps saucy? dwelling.

I posted this in [info]audiography earlier...thought I'd share with ya'll as well.

I'm so glad this theme came up, as I didn't get around to posting to the Summer theme last week. You see, my plan for a summer music post included categories, one of which was "driving with the windows down." I live in St. Louis, Missouri, which gets horribly humid during the summer. And my car has no AC. So windows down is the way I roll. It helps to have music with sort of a languid, mellow feel to it...it makes the stifling wet blanket that is our summer feel more...I don't know, like all's right. Hot Day, cool beats, I suppose. And there are no cooler beats than Bob Marley, so I'll start there...

Sun is Shining Duppy Conqueror, Bob Marley & The Wailers
Deep bass beats, with that distinctive reggae sound that just screams "It's summer! Yay!" Recline your seat a little. and bop your head. You can't help it.

[info]mamaphunk mentioned boning up on 80's ballads, because we are doing trivia tomorrow. so I went to see what I had on my i-tunes. As I listened to some of them, I noticed that 3 songs on Monster Ballads had the word "eyes" in the title. Usually the music categories have some sort of theme. So I present a giant post of youtube "eye music." Sadly, not all are 80's ballads, but a suprising number of them are...

Jack showed me this video by the Shins and I love it. It's so funny and happy. And now I'm really wanting to make myself a bush costume and run around various places in it.

Some baubles and bits from the antique store up the street. I love this place. It's like a giant indoor garage sale.

Multi-strand orange necklace. Cheapy plastic, but I love this clasp detail.

I think I mentioned that I am running (or perhaps dragging and whining) up 42 flights of stairs on March 1? It's this thing called Mater the Met, and it raises money for the Lung association. Some aunts, friends and I are doing as a team called the Crazy Crickets in memory of...well, Cricket.

Each team member is required to raise at least $100. I've pretty much already reached that goal with a mass e-mail to co-workers and friends, but it doesn't hurt one lick to raise as much as I can, so I'm asking you wonderful people! It would be awesome if the Crazy Crickets were a top donation earner, no?

Here is my donation site, where you can find out more about the event and make a contribution if you are so inclined. You could even join the Crazy Crickets and climb 1008 steps with me if you want! :) Thanks!!

my aunt jen just called. she's getting a group together to do this master the met event on March 1st. It benefits the Lung association. It requires you to run up 42 flights of stairs. 42!!! The answer to life, the universe and everything!! Oh man, that's a lot of stairs, and it makes my legs wobble just thinking about it.

But I've been a total slacker for way to long, and I need something like this to look forward to and work for to get my ass in shape. I've been eating lots of eggs, butter and bacon lately, and getting very very little excercise to balance it out.

Also, a couple weeks later is the St. patrick's day run downtown...I think it's 4 miles? Maybe 5. yeah, 5. I ran it a couple years ago and felt sooo great. i wanna feel that again.

Perhaps [info]sweatysteph should make a comeback?

I have ass-tons of laundry tomorrow, and since the laundry facility is attached to the gym, guess I'll begin my training. It's also supposed to be mild weather all weekend, so perhaps I can get a couple mid-winter outdoor runs in? That would really help jumpstart my motivation...until it gets all frck-frackin cold again and I get allcrabby and non-runn-y. No. That won't happen. I have to climb 42 flights. I cannot not run.

but for now...back to the wine and the t.v.

btw, if any stl girls are interested in doing this with us, let me know. I think my aunt is setting up a "crazy crickets" team...the more members the better :)

Help! Do any of you have any awesome dip recipes? For our post-holiday holiday party at work we are having a dip contest. I have been put in charge of food and getting people excited about the contest, so I want to be a contender. I make a pretty good guacamole. I was thinking my always popular blue cheese spread...but is a spread a dip?

I enjoy Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs fame. He's Hot. He's funny. Good tv. Last night at a party my former coworker informed me that he used to be on QVC. So now, instead of the major cleaning and organizing scheme I was planning, I have been stuck to youtube watching gems like this...
